Malik Ahmed Khan elected as Punjab Assembly Speaker

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan was elected as the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly during its second session, which was chaired by the outgoing Speaker, Sibtain Khan.

However, the atmosphere was marred by tensions as members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) engaged in heated exchanges, exchanging slogans amidst the proceedings.

He was elected as the new speaker of the Punjab Assembly after securing 224 votes.

During the polling, Ahmad Khan Bhachar, the candidate from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), secured 96 votes out of a total of 322 ballots cast. However, two votes were rejected in the process.
