LAHORE: In a recent development, the Lahore district government has announced a revised schedule for market operating hours, permitting businesses to stay open until 11 pm, an extension from the previous 10 pm limit.

This alteration applies uniformly to both small and large markets, allowing them to prolong their operational hours by an additional hour, aligning with the new 11 pm closing time.

A formal notification issued by the authorities has outlined the breadth of its application, encompassing a diverse range of business activities. Notably, shopping malls, confectionery outlets, bakeries, eateries, hotels, coffee houses, and cafes will now enjoy the flexibility of conducting business activities until the extended hour.

Crucially, it’s important to mention that specific essential services have been expressly exempted from these revised regulations. Pharmacies, medical stores, tire repair shops, petrol pumps, compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, tandoors (clay ovens), milk dispensaries, hospitals, and laboratories situated within the city confines will be permitted to continue their operations unhindered, without being subject to any curfew-related restrictions.

This decision reflects a conscientious attempt to strike a balance between sustaining economic activities and ensuring the uninterrupted availability of vital services to the public. By allowing businesses to operate until 11 pm, the Lahore district government aims to invigorate economic prospects while simultaneously upholding citizens’ access to indispensable services.
