GENEVA: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz landed in Geneva on Thursday, after leaving from Lahore on a special Pakistan air force plane.
On Monday night, the chief minister was admitted to Sharif Medical City Hospital in Lahore due to a throat infection. It was later revealed that she had been experiencing issues with her thyroid gland, a problem that relapsed in recent months after she had undergone surgery last year.
The chief minister had planned to travel to Geneva for a family vacation with Nawaz Sharif. She was initially heading to London before the health emergency led her to change her plans.
Nawaz Sharif has also reached Geneva after traveling from London. Senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb is accompanying Maryam Nawaz.
The provincial minister stated that the Chief Minister’s surgeon, who is based in Geneva, had told her to receive medical attention immediately. The chief minister is expected to return by November 12 according to Marriyum Aurangzeb.
