Matric exams start in Punjab

LAHORE: The annual matric exams under all nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) have commenced on Tuesday throughout Punjab, including Rawalpindi.
In Lahore, 500,854 students are participating in the examination process. Arabic and Geography papers will be held today in the morning session and Arts, history and wood works exams will be held in the evening under the Lahore Board.
921 examination centers have been established in Lahore. Section 144 has been imposed in the vicinity of the examination centers, CCTV cameras have been installed. For the first time, the invigilator staff has been deputed for the matric exams in Punjab under the automation system.
Under the Rawalpindi BISE, a total of 399 examination centres have been set up across the Rawalpindi Division, with 97 centres declared highly sensitive, where additional police deployment has been made.
Bad weather leads to schools shut down
EDUCATION MINISTER
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that no one would be allowed to manipulate exam results and effective measures have been taken to ensure transparent exams.
He said that examination centres are being monitored through cameras to prevent any irregularities.
The minister further clarified that private staff have not been allowed to serve as exam invigilators.
Special monitoring squads have been formed to oversee the examination process, he added.
