Matriculation exams start in Karachi

KARACHI: The annual Matriculation exams have commenced in Karachi today (Tuesday), with a total of 365,102 registered candidates for both the ninth and tenth grades.
Today Computer oral exam will be held for ninth and tenth class from 9:30 am till 12: 30 pm. While General Science will be held in the evening shift from 2:30 till 5:30 pm.
There are 505 examination centres established: 148 in government schools, 357 in private schools, and one in the Central Jail, where 22 students will sit for the matriculation exams in Karachi.
Some five exam centres in five towns, namely, Landhi, Lyari, Orangi, Baldia and Keamari have also been declared as ‘sensitive’. Some 50 high level vigilance teams consisting of director schools, additional directors, deputy directors, DEOs and the director general of private schools have been formed. Apart from them, vigilance teams consisting of senior teachers have also been formed who will be present at the centre during the exams.
The officers of the board will be responsible for the delivery of examination papers to the hub centres from where the examination centre superintendents will receive the sealed packets of their respective centres.
Matric students stranded without “roll-number slips” in Karachi
The morning session will cover the Science group, while the afternoon session will encompass the General group.
Secondary board examinations will conclude on May 31.
The Education Department has deployed 50 vigilance officers. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in examination centres and the use of photostat machines around examination centres during exams has been completely banned.
Section 144 is enforced around examination centres, with a directive issued to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during exams.
