MDCAT 2024: Students move court against irregularities

MDCAT 2024

ISLAMABAD: Alleging serious irregularities in the MDCAT 2024 exam, students have taken their concerns to the Islamabad High Court, filing a petition against what they claim were out-of-syllabus questions and unfair practices.

For the second consecutive day, a large number of students, accompanied by their parents, protested outside PIMS Medical University. They expressed frustration over more than 20 out-of-syllabus questions included in the exam, with many stating that they were shocked upon seeing the paper.

“We were distressed when the paper was revealed. When our parents raised the issue with the university, the Vice Chancellor exited through the back door,” a group of students shared.

They also claimed that the police surrounded them despite their peaceful protest, while the registrar was seen laughing.

The protesting students have demanded the public release of the test paper on the official website for transparency.

Furthermore, they called for a re-examination to address the alleged irregularities, stating that their academic future hangs in the balance.

Almost 20,000 candidates appeared for the exam arranged by the SZABMU in Islamabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir, and the international centres of Dubai and Riyadh. The complaints about mismanagement and cheating during the exam were reported in all parts of the country, and many students were also booked for using unfair means.

On September 22, 2024, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) conducted the highly anticipated Medical and Dental College Aptitude Test (MDCAT) across 30 cities, with a staggering 167,000 medical aspirants participating.
