ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned an urgent session of the National Security Committee (NSC) today (Monday) as tensions soar in the Middle East (ME) following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
The meeting is scheduled for 12 PM today at the Prime Minister’s House.
According to sources, the country’s top civil and military leadership will attend the high-level meeting.
The agenda includes a review of the regional crisis sparked by the Iran-Israel conflict, alongside Pakistan’s internal and external security landscape.
Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to brief the participants on his recent visit to the United States.
Sources say critical decisions may be made regarding Pakistan’s diplomatic support for Iran and other emerging developments.

The National Security Committee is also expected to review the overall internal and border security situation of the country.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly condemned the US strikes, calling them a violation of international law. It stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to defuse the crisis.
“This alarming escalation is deeply troubling,” the ministry said in a statement. “Further hostilities could have devastating consequences for the entire region.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz also held a telephonic conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing Pakistan’s condemnation of the US attacks and reaffirming support for Iran’s sovereignty and the Iranian people.
