Menu upgrade: Punjab prisoners to enjoy chicken qorma, pulao

LAHORE: On the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the menu of Punjab jails has been upgraded in order to provide quality food to the prisoners, which will now include many varieties of chicken

According to Inspector General (IG) Jails Mian Farooq Nazir said that chicken will be provided seven times a week in the jails of Punjab and now qorma, pulao and karahi have been included in the jail food menu.

IG Jail said that the Punjab prisoners menu was upgraded to provide food containing 2800 to 3000 calories per day.

To improve curry gravy, 25 percent of onion, ginger and tomato were increased, Mian Farooq Nazir said.

He said that Kasuri fenugreek is added to improve the taste of the food.

Earlier, chicken was provided six times a week and the menu has been prepared with the opinion of experts to determine the calories, Mian Farooq Nazir said.
