ISLAMABAD: Amid protest calls by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamaat-e-Islami, the Metro Bus service in Islamabad will remain closed.

According to the notification, the Metro Bus service will remain closed in Islamabad from IJP Road till Pak Secretariat as a precautionary measure amid protest calls of the political parties.

The move has been taken to ensure the protection of masses in case of any eventuality, the statement from the Metro Bus service administration read.

Red Metro, Green line, Blue line and electric buses are completely closed in Islamabad. Orange line operational from Faiz Ahmed Faiz till N5. Airport stop is closed.

However, metro bus service will remain operational in Rawalpindi.

Authorities in Islamabad have sealed Red Zone by placing containers ahead of JI sit-in protest at the D-Chowk in Islamabad and PTI protest.

Islamabad police has also issued a traffic plan for the capital.

Citizens are instructed to use the Rawalpindi Sadar route if Rawat Road is closed. Use the motorway if Peshawar GT Road is closed.

If Srinagar Highway G14 is closed, citizens should use Peshawar Road, GT Road, and Colonel Sher Khan Road. If Faizabad is closed use Shahri Park Road and for Zero-Point closure use Faisal Avenue and Jinnah Avenue. If Serena Chowk is closed use 7 Avenue and for Embassy Road closure use Shaheed Millat Road, according to the traffic plan due to PTI, JI protest.Local businesses, especially those located along the blocked routes, are also feeling the pinch. Shopkeepers report a significant drop in foot traffic and sales, with some choosing to close early due to the chaos.
