Electric bikes for Pakistani students at minimal markup

WEB DESK: In a recent session of the Planning and Development (P&D) Board, chaired by Bilal Afzal, discussions centered around the prospect of providing electric bikes to students.

The board meeting, attended by Chairman Iftikhar Ali Sahu and Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial, delved into various proposals.

Notably, the Transport Department provided a comprehensive overview of plans to introduce electric bikes into the market, collaborating with Honda and other companies.

Simultaneously, the Bank of Punjab conveyed that electric bikes would be made available to 10,000 students at a minimal markup.

The Minister of Planning and Development, Bilal Afzal, urged the committee to devise a rational and cost-effective financing model.

He said that, in the initial phase, e-bikes would be distributed to eligible and high-achieving students through the banking system.

This move aims to encourage sustainable and eco-friendly modes of transportation among the student community.
