Minister lays foundation stone of 300-bed Polyclinic hospital expansion project

ISLAMABAD: Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel laid the foundation stone for the Polyclinic expansion project, which will have 300 additional beds.
The minister said that the health ministry has allocated Rs9.91 billion for the hospital’s extension project.
The Polyclinic hospital expansion project is expected to be completed in three years. Qadir Patel expressed his satisfaction at the expansion of hospital in Islamabad.
He highlighted that not only the residents of Islamabad but also citizens from surrounding areas would benefit from the hospital’s expansion.
Additionally, he said people from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan would also have the opportunity to avail medical facilities at the hospital.
The minister emphasised the rapid increase in patients and the burden on federal hospitals, stating that the improvement of hospital services was a priority for his government.
He assured that measures are being taken to enhance the performance of federal hospitals and to provide better medical facilities to patients.
Qadir Patel talked about the government’s commitment to introducing significant reforms in the health sector during his tenure.
He mentioned that modern healthcare facilities were being established, and efforts are being made to ensure maximum convenience and ease for patients.

However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by the current economic situation in initiating new projects.
He stressed that too much time is wasted in discussions and exchanging pleasantries with others, which makes it difficult to launch new initiatives.
He said that the Polyclinic Hospital expansion project was a critical step towards improving healthcare services.
Polyclinic hospital expansion project
The Polyclinic hospital expansion project was initiated in 2015 when 2.54 acres of land were allocated from the adjacent Argentina Park for this purpose.
A PC-II for extension of the hospital amounting to Rs47.9 million was approved by the Department Development Working Party (DDWP) in 2017.
The project will involve vertical and horizontal extension of the hospital in a purpose-built structure with a total covered area of 529,700 sqft.
The project will also include renovation and up-gradation of existing facilities and services at the hospital. The project is expected to cater to the needs of over 10,000 patients per day.
The project is expected to be completed by 2026.
