Minister orders probe into train derailment

LAHORE: Federal Railway and Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has ordered an investigation into the tragic train accident in Nawabshah.
He said that emergency has been declared in nearby hospitals.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, he said that he has been briefed about the devastating train accident in Nawabshah.
He stated that officials concerned have been directed to start an immediate inquiry into the incident.
Rafique said that the train was traveling at a speed of 45 kilometres per hour at the time of the accident.
Death toll from train derailment reaches 30, says Sindh CM
The minister stated that multiple steps were being taken for the revival of the railway system.
At least 30 people were killed and over 100 injured after the Hazara Express derailed near Nawabshah.
At least10 coaches of the Hazara Express derailed, officials said.
The Hazara Express was traveling from Karachi to Abbottabad and met with the accident near Sahrari Railway Station.
The incident site being far from the city has made difficult for the rescue teams to reach timely. According to officials, heavy machinery has been dispatched to the site but it would take 3 to 4 hours to clear the track.
