Ministry of Religious Affairs warns of fake Hajj permits

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued a warning to all those embarking on Hajj in a few weeks against fraudulent permits, advising them to only travel to Saudi Arabia with officially approved documents.

The ministry cautioned that fake companies, illegal advertisements, and counterfeit permits are being used to deceive pilgrims. “Be vigilant against unauthorised permits that are not recognized by Saudi authorities,” the ministry stated.

The use of fraudulent Hajj permits can lead to severe consequences, including detention, fines, and deportation by Saudi authorities. Pilgrims with fake documents may also be denied entry to sacred sites in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah for violating Saudi laws. Additionally, money paid for illegal or unverified Hajj packages will not be refunded.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs stressed that Saudi officials impose strict penalties on those using counterfeit permits. “Respecting Saudi laws is essential for the acceptance and blessings of Hajj,” the ministry added.

The ministry urged pilgrims to only obtain Hajj permits through authorized channels and to verify the authenticity of travel packages before making payments. “Do not fall victim to scams—ensure your documents are legitimate to avoid complications during your sacred journey,” the advisory stated.

With Hajj season approaching, the ministry has intensified efforts to crack down on illegal operators exploiting pilgrims. Authorities are working closely with Saudi officials to prevent fraudulent activities and ensure a smooth pilgrimage for all.
