Earlier on June 11, the Supreme Court ordered to close all restaurants including The Monal situated in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills National Park within three months.
Monal Restaurant voluntarily agreed to relocate the restaurant in three months. All other restaurants in the National Park area have also been instructed to transfer within three months.
During the hearing, CJP Qazi Faiz Isa remarked that commercial activities could not be allowed in the National Park area and sought details of all other restaurants located in Margalla Hills National Park.
Chief Justice instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) that if the lease is intended anywhere outside the national park, priority should be given to the affected restaurants. The restaurants established in the National Park should be completely abolished in three months, the SC verdict said.
