Monsoon rains continue across the country

ISLAMABAD: Monsoon rains are continuing in different parts of the country, affecting daily life in many areas while the Meteorological Department has predicted that the current rain spell will continue till July 25.

Cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, and others in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan have received rain, while the Met Office has forecast more rain in the next 24 hours.

In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, it has been raining since morning. A flood-like situation has developed in the Sawan River. The Meteorological Department has warned of more thunderstorm activity today.

Rain also lashed several areas of Karachi, including Saddar and surrounding localities. Rainwater accumulated in low-lying areas, disrupting traffic flow.

In Lahore, various areas witnessed rain. Streets in Iqbal Town, Lawrence Road, and Link Road were flooded. The drainage system remained slow.

Rain in Sharaqpur and Sharaqpur Sharif led to water accumulation on roads and in streets, while electricity supply was suspended in many areas.

In Pasrur and nearby areas, heavy rainfall caused multiple feeders to trip, resulting in power outages.

According to the Met Department, more rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Chakwal, Attock, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Shakargarh, Kasur, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Layyah, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, and Taunsa Sharif.

In Balochistan, rain with thunder is expected in Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Loralai, Zhob, Qalat, Khuzdar, and Lasbela.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Shangla, Malakand, Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Bajaur, Mardan, Kurram, Khyber, Orakzai, Hangu, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan are also expected to receive rain.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir may experience rain with strong winds and thunderstorms as well.

The Met Department has advised residents, especially those in low-lying areas, to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
