ISLAMABAD: A fresh spell of monsoon rains is set to begin across the country from tonight, according to a forecast issued by the Meteorological Department.

The Met Office stated that rains are likely in Islamabad and several cities across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from July 28 to 31.

The department also warned of possible flooding in low-lying areas and rivers during this period.

While a monsoon system is currently active over Punjab, including Lahore, only light rainfall is expected, the forecast added.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued an alert for the fifth monsoon spell, expected between July 28 and 31.

In Balochistan, rains are forecast from July 29 to 31, whereas cities in Sindh may see rainfall between July 30 and 31.

The Met Office cautioned that low-lying areas in several cities may face water accumulation, and landslides are possible in upper regions.

Authorities have advised tourists and travellers to plan their movements in line with weather forecasts.
