More rain predicted for Islamabad, temperatures drop to 25°C

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain with thunder in Islamabad and surrounding areas today, while temperatures have dropped down to 25 degrees Celsius, bringing much-needed relief from the heat and humidity.

According to the PMD, in Balochistan, most districts are expected to remain hot and dry, but rain is likely in some areas, including Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Musakhel, Qila Saifullah, and Loralai. Light rain is also expected at a few places in Dera Bugti, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran, and Lasbela.

Several cities in Punjab are also likely to receive rain. These include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, and Sheikhupura. Rain is also expected in Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, and Bhakkar. In Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Mianwali, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, showers are expected. Kot Addu and Layyah may receive rain accompanied by strong winds.

In Sindh, rain is expected in Umerkot, Mithi, Sanghar, Khairpur, Paddidan, Sukkur, and Larkana. Hyderabad, Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and coastal areas are also likely to receive rainfall.

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PMD has forecast rain in both upper and southern districts, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.

The Met Office has advised people to take precautionary measures during the rain and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable or low-lying areas.

The current rain spell is predicted to last till July 17.
