More rains in store for Islamabad, Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted more rains for the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while a rain alert has been issued for Rawalpindi.
The current rain spell is expected to last till July 31.
According to the met office, several areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi will experience intermittent rains for the next 12 hours.
Approximately 86 mm of rain was recorded in Saidpur, 26 mm in Golra, and 51 mm in H-8 sector of Islamabad. In Rawalpindi, 81 mm rainfall was recorded in Shamsabad, 28 mm in Bokra, and 27 mm in Chaklala, according to the Met Office.

After the heavy showers, WASA Rawalpindi imposed a rain emergency. Managing Director WASA said that all machinery had been mobilized and field teams were actively working. He added that Nullah Lai is being closely monitored to deal with any emergency situation.
Several low-lying areas of the city have been completely submerged. Water has entered homes in Javed Colony, Nadeem Colony, Dhok Elahi Bakhsh, and other localities. Streets and neighbourhoods are flooded with up to three feet of water.
Residents woke up in the middle of the night as water rushed into their homes.
