Mortar attack targets security checkpoint in Quetta

QUETTA: A mortar shell was fired at a security checkpoint near Spin Karez area of the provincial capital.

According to the police, a joint checkpoint operated by police and Frontier Corps (FC) was targeted by the terrorists. The terrorists launched a mortar shell that detonated at some distance away from the checkpoint in an open area.

Meanwhile, in the aftermath of the mortar attack, the terrorists unleashed a round of gunfire , however, no damage has been reported.

As per the police, in response to the attackers’ firing, the security personnel promptly engaged in retaliatory firing, causing the attackers to flee the scene.

The mortar attack incident remains subject to ongoing investigation.
