Motorway Police announces Eid travel safety guidelines

WEB DESK: The Motorway Police has issued guidelines for those planning to travel during Eid holidays, urging safety to ensure a happy and secure Eid for everyone.

The guidelines recommend that before embarking on a journey, the vehicle’s engine oil, water levels, tires’ conditions and air pressure and brakes should be thoroughly checked.

“Use seat belts while driving and adhere to the speed limit,” Motorway Police said, adding that proper distance should be maintained from the in the front vehicle. Lane laws should also be followed for safe driving.

The Motorway Police carried out an awareness campaign, and also distributed gifts among travelers on the Motorway.

ANTI-SPEEDING CAMPAIGN ON MOTORWAYS

Earlier in March, the Motorway Police launched a crackdown on speeding drivers as part of a campaign to curb overspeeding. In the first phase, action was taken against 54 drivers, MP spokesperson said.

The crackdown was launched on M-3, M-2, M-4, M-5 and Lahore-Sialkot motorways, the spokesperson added. As per the details, four cases have been registered on Lahore-Sialkot motorway for speeding, while 19 FIRs have been registered on Lahore-Islamabad motorway M-2.

Anti-speeding campaign on motorways; 54 drivers under fire

Five cases were registered on Lahore-Multan motorway M-3 and six cases were registered on Faisalabad-Multan M-4. Moreover, 20 arrests have been made on Sukkur-Multan motorway M-5, Motorway Police spokesperson said.

The speed ​​limit on 3-lane motorway for light vehicles is 120 km/h and for heavy vehicles is 110 km/h. Exceeding this speed will land drivers in trouble, the spokesperson said.
