Motorway Police issues heatwave advisory for drivers

Motorway police

LAHORE: As the country reels under intense heat, the Motorway Police has issued a safety advisory for motorists to help avoid heat-related incidents.

Motorway Police spokesperson advised all drivers to check radiator water levels before driving. He said that high engine temperature and tyre pressure must also be monitored, especially during peak summer hours.

Drivers have been strictly warned not to keep lighters, mobile phones or perfumes inside vehicles during extreme heat, as they can cause accidents or even fires.

The public has been urged to avoid unnecessary travel between 11am and 4pm. “Avoid leaving children or elderly people alone in cars, even for a short time,” the spokesperson stressed.

He also recommended keeping extra water and a first aid box in the vehicle at all times. “Always park your car in shaded areas to avoid overheating,” he added.

The advisory comes as temperatures in many cities have soared above 45 degrees Celsius, with health experts also warning of potential heatstroke cases across the country.
