Motorways M-2, M-3, M-4, and M-5 closed due to frigid cold

ISLAMABAD: Motorways across the country were shut down due to intense fog leading to low visibility, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) announced.

Motorway M-2

Motorway M-2 that runs from Lahore to Kot Momin was closed for heavy traffic early on Saturday.

Motorway M-3

Similarly, the M-3 motorway was shut down from the Samundri to Darkhana due to poor visibility caused by frigid cold.

Motorway M-4

The M-4 motorway was closed from Gojra to Multan. The decision to half traffic on this route was made to prevent potential accidents that could occur with thick white air blanketing the roads.

Motorway M-5

The M-5 motorway, which stretches from Multan to Rohri, is also closed to traffic.

Travel Advisory

In light of the current conditions, commuters were “strongly” advised by the motorway police to avoid unnecessary travel. The law enforcers recommended travelling between 10 am and 6 pm.

Drivers were urged to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to ensure their safety and that of others on the road.
