GILGIT: Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara has tragically passed away, a loss confirmed by the vice president of the Alpine Club, Ayaz Shagri.
Murad Sadpara rescue operation update
Sadpara was fatally injured by a falling stone at Camp One during an expedition on Broad Peak, an 8,047-metre-high summit in the Skardu region.
Following the incident, fellow Pakistani mountaineers urgently called for a helicopter rescue to aid the injured Sadpara. In response, the Pakistan Army deployed four expert climbers to the base camp. These rescuers are now attempting to retrieve Sadpara’s body and bring it back to the base camp.
Murad Sadpara was a celebrated figure in the mountaineering community and had recently led a cleanup campaign on K-2.

Just last week, he had successfully brought down the body of a fallen climber from the heights of K-2, further cementing his reputation as a dedicated and skilled mountaineer.
His death marks a significant loss for Pakistan’s mountaineering community.
President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed deep grief over the passing of Murad Sadpara, and has conveyed condolences to the family.
