Mustafa Amir case: My son has been presumed guilty without proof, says Sajid Hassan

KARACHI: Famous actor Sajid Hassan terming the murder of Mustafa Amir as tragic, said that his son is innocent in the Mustafa Amir murder case adding that the real culprits should be brought to justice.

Talking to media regarding his son Sahir Hassan’s involvement in the Mustafa Amir murder case, Sajid Hassan said that his son has been presumed guilty without any proof or trial.

“No evidence has been brought forward regarding my son’s involvement in the murder of Mustafa Amir”, Sajid Hassan said.

Mustafa Amir’s murder is a tragic incident, and I could not sleep all night after listening to the video message from his mother, he said.

He stressed that Mustafa was also like his son, and he wanted a fair trial in the case so that the real culprits are punished.

Sahir Hassan has been arrested in the Mustafa Amir murder case as well as on charges of buying and selling drugs. According to the police, Sahir confessed during interrogation that he had been using drugs for 13 years and had also been selling them for the past two years. He said that he used to sell drugs worth Rs 0.4 million to 0.5 million every week, and his entire business was run on Snapchat.

Sajid Hassan’s team of lawyers is insisting that the Mustafa Amir murder case and the drug case should be treated separately.

They say that presenting the two cases together is tantamount to diverting attention from the main case.

“I live in a rented house. My work has stopped, and we are being isolated by our neighbours. We have been branded as criminals without a trial,” he said.

He said that his son has just got married. Maybe he did make some mistakes in his life. But he is not a murderer, and to link him to Mustafa Amir’s murder is incorrect and unfair.  

Sajid Hassan stressed that his focus is only on his son’s case, and he does not want to waste time by coming to the media.

Sajid Hassan said that he has full faith in the court, and he wants justice in this case.

He said, “truth will eventually come out”, while expressing hope that the court will prove his son innocent and the real culprits will be punished.

It should be noted that in the Mustafa Aamir murder case, the police had arrested four youths, including Sajid Hassan’s son Sahir Hassan, while conducting operations in different places of Defense.

According to the police, drugs have also been recovered from Sahir Hassan, and he has also given the names of more than 12 clients during the investigation.

Sajid Hassan, speaking in favor of his son, said that he is an actor, and if he wants, he can use the media for himself, but he will not do so because his son is on trial, and he has full faith in the justice system.
