In a post on X, he shared that his life’s purpose going forward is to secure release for those incarcerated under charges pertaining to May 9 events. “My life’s mission now is to advocate for the authorities to grant amnesty to individuals who remain in hiding, are incarcerated, or have been wrongly implicated for the tragic incidents that unfolded on May 9,” he wrote.

He added, “I humbly implore my followers to join me in this peaceful endeavor. While I have seldom made such appeals in my life, today is an exception.”

Sheikh Rashid was taken into custody in September, with his arrest occurring at his residence on the outskirts of Islamabad before he was subsequently transferred to Rawalpindi.
