ISLAMABAD: : The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has released an inquiry report detailing alleged instances of corruption involving Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the Central President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and former Chief Minister of Punjab.

The report centers on the awarding of contracts and development schemes.

As per the NAB report, disclosed through a private news channel, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, in collaboration with his close associates, sanctioned 116 development projects for Gujarat.

According to the NAB’s findings, Parvez Elahi is alleged to have wielded his influence to grant contracts for various schemes to contractors of his preference. The inquiry report suggests that contracts were allocated through intermediaries, and in return, bribes and kickbacks were allegedly received.

The report points out that the former chief minister not only advanced funds in anticipation of kickbacks but also diverted funds originally designated for other projects towards those he had approved. The NAB asserts that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi exploited his position as the provincial head to allegedly secure kickbacks.

The details of the inquiry report underscore the seriousness of the accusations against the former Punjab Chief Minister.
