NADRA to help Nigeria modernise its citizen database

NADRA, Nigeria sign agreement

ABUJA: Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) signed an agreement with the Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) on Wednesday to upgrade the Nigerian citizens’ database system.

In a post shared on social-media platform X, NADRA said that the latest deal helps “cements its position as a leading provider of identity solutions to a vast demographic, encompassing Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, and Somalia.”

The latest collaboration between the two parties will help modernise and upgrade Nigeria’s existing database of its citizens. This agreement will improve the efficiency and security of Nigeria’s national identity database’s backend system, which will enable NIMC to expand its enrolment of Nigerian citizens.

According to NADRA’s statement, the NIMC “has issued over 102 million National Identification Numbers (NINs) to Nigerian citizens, showcasing the effectiveness of combined expertise in identity management.”

A recent meeting between the two parties at NIMC headquarters in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, focused on meeting project deadlines and other objectives.

This agreement will not only improve cooperation and relations between Pakistan and Nigeria, but it will also help establish Pakistan as a significant player in advanced digitization initiatives on global level.
