NADRA denies blocking PTI leaders CNICs

PTI

PESHAWAR: The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has categorically refuted recent media reports suggesting the blocking of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) belonging to leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The NADRA spokesperson clarified on Monday that neither has the authority taken any such action nor have any courts issued directives in this regard.

Emphasizing that the process of blocking CNICs follows a stringent legal procedure, the spokesperson asserted that no such action has been initiated by NADRA, and neither has the interior ministry issued any directives to block the CNICs of PTI leaders.

Consequently, the spokesperson urged the public to refrain from spreading baseless rumours and misinformation.

It was reported in the media that NADRA had blocked the CNICs of PTI leaders who were declared absconders in connection with the May 9 riots cases. The official statement from NADRA now debunks these claims, reaffirming the adherence to legal protocols in handling such matters.
