Naqvi briefs Shehbaz on security, counterterrorism

LAHORE: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on law and order as well as other domestic security-related matters as Pakistan is facing the challenge of Indian-sponsored terrorism in the country’s western half.

The development comes after the Afghan Taliban and the associated terrorist groups attacked Pakistan on multiple locations, triggering a swift and effective response. It resulted in the killing of over 200 Afghan Taliban and other terrorists with injuries too many others.

At the same time, the TLP is involved in a violent march towards Islamabad under the pretext of expressing support to the Palestinians despite the fact that Hamas and Israel have reached a ceasefire deal while world leaders are gathering at Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday for the signing comprehensive peace agreement.

During the meeting, Shehbaz and Naqvi discussed the affairs concerning practical steps against terrorism and other security matters amid ever-changing situation and constant external interference by India under Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The prime minister praised the interior minister and his team for their efforts and directed to continue taking steps to protect the life and security of citizens.

Shehbaz described protecting the life and property of people as well as rule of law as the top priorities of his government and vowed to root out terrorism from Pakistan.
