OGDCL new well to save millions of dollars for Pakistan

KARAK: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully revitalised the Nashpa-4 well in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, significantly enhancing its production capacity. The company disclosed this development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.

“We are pleased to announce that Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully revitalised Nashpa-4 well,” stated the notice from OGDCL.

According to the notice, the well was re-evaluated for the potential of the upper zone of the Lockhart formation.

This re-evaluation has resulted in an impressive increase of 330 barrels per day (bpd) of oil and 7.7 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 1570 PSI. In addition, the company is recovering 21 metric tons per day (MTD) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

OGDCL further informed that the gas produced from the Nashpa-4 well is now being injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network.

The Nashpa-4 well is located within the Nashpa Development and Production Lease (D&PL) in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This lease operates under a joint venture where OGDCL holds a 56.45 per cent stake as the operator, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has a 28.55 per cent share, and Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) possesses a 15 per cent share.

This revitalisation marks a significant achievement for OGDCL, reflecting its ongoing efforts to enhance energy production and contribute to the country’s energy needs.
