Nation gears up for 79th Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: Preparations are underway across Pakistan to mark the 79th Independence Day and celebrate the country’s victory in Marka-e-Haq with national zeal.
The government has announced a public holiday for the occasion.
Special ceremonies have been planned in the federal capital, all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Government buildings are being illuminated and adorned with patriotic motifs, while themed floats will depict key moments from the national struggle.
Schools and colleges are preparing programmes with new themes highlighting the significance of the recent military success in Marka-e-Haq.

To add to the festive spirit, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has released a new patriotic song titled “Dil Se Pakistan”, paying tribute to martyrs and saluting the resilience of the people and armed forces.
Roadside stalls and markets are selling national flags, buntings, caps, and green-and-white clothing for children.
People have decorated their homes, vehicles, and rooftops with the national flag across the country.
BAN OF HORNS, WHISTLES IN ISLAMABAD
In Islamabad, the district administration has imposed a ban on the sale and use of horns and whistles to curb noise pollution.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has directed officials to confiscate horns and impose strict penalties on violators, with daily operations continuing until August 14.
The ICT Police have also finalised a special security plan. Inspector General of Police (IGP) said that fireworks, aerial firing, one-wheeling, and disorder during the celebrations would not be tolerated. Possession of illegal weapons will be dealt with strictly, while large-scale search and combing operations are already underway in different areas of the capital.

This year’s Independence Day carries an added sense of pride, as Pakistan’s success against India in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos under the Marka-e-Haq campaign has given a new spirit to the celebrations.
