ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Secretariat has decided to implement a 50 per cent cut in the use of stationery and other items as part of its austerity measures.
In this regard, a circular has been issued, instructing departments and officers to ensure the careful use of stationery due to financial challenges faced by the Secretariat.
According to the circular, stationery and other items will now be requisitioned only once a month with the approval of an officer of grade 20 or above.

Joint and Deputy Secretaries (Administration) have been given the authority to reduce unnecessary requisitions by 50 per cent.
The use of both sides of paper has been made mandatory, and unused circulars will be repurposed. The use of offset paper and note sheets for drafting is prohibited.
The circular also calls for careful use of office telephones and a reduction in unnecessary bills. Former Speaker Ayaz Sadiq stated that such measures are essential to overcome the country’s financial difficulties.
