Nationwide polio campaign to begin tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan is launching yet another effort to root out polio as the National Emergency Operations Center (EOC) said on Sunday that the nationwide polio vaccination campaign will begin tomorrow and will run until October 19.
The polio campaign will be continued for a period of one week across 159 districts of the country, which will aim for serving the polio drops to 45.4 million children of the country, according to a statement issued by EOC.
The statement added that alongside the polio vaccine, an additional Vitamin A dose will also be given to those children whom the drops are served. In this respect, more than 400,000 health workers will visit door-to-door to make sure every child is vaccinated against polio.
However, EOC has also notified that polio campaign in Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will take place from October 20 to 23.

Meanwhile, officials from the EOC have appealed to all parents of the unvaccinated children to ensure that all their underage children receive the polio drops so as to very soon eradicate the long-existed virus from the country.
The statement also urged all parents to complete the full course of routine immunizations for children from birth up to 15 months of age on time.
