Nationwide preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi underway

ISLAMABAD: Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth of Holy Prophet (PBUH), is scheduled to be observed across Pakistan on Tuesday, with great enthusiasm and devotion.

Cities across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, are actively preparing for the event.

In Punjab, authorities announced the deployment of over 55,000 security personnel to ensure the safety of Milad processions. Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari stated that 2,467 Milad processions and over 1,500 religious gatherings (mehfils) will take place throughout the province,

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was also involved, particularly in sensitive regions, to monitor the events and maintain order

In Faisalabad, CCTV cameras were activated and control rooms were set up at divisional levels to oversee the events.

Similarly in Islamabad, more than 2,000 police officers would be assigned to secure the main procession and other related events in the capital. Walk-through gates would be set up at the stating points of the processions and participants will undergo thorough body searches before entering.

The government even srt up snipers on rooftops to ensure the safety of attendees, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad stated.

Several roads along the process route would be closed, while local law enforcers would conduct patrols to maintain security.

In Rawalpindi, over 5,000 troops were deployed along with 454 traffic officers to main peace and traffic flow during Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

A comprehensive plan was set up for 108 processions, with 2,400 officers assigned to the main procession and more than 2,600 designated for the remaining events.

The City Traffic Police was issued a special traffic plan to facilitate the events.

Meanwhile in Sindh, the provincial government announced a ban on pillion riding to ensure safety during the celebrations. In Karachi, two major processions are expected to attract hundreds of thousands of participants.

Almost 5,000 security personnel are going to be deployed in the country’s largest city, including senior superintendents of police, deputy superintendents, and constables.

Authorities said that there would be a complete ban on display of weapons during the processions. Motorcycles, camels, horses and open trucks would not be permitted.

In Mirpurkhas, strict security measures were implemented, with a huge number of police personnel assigned to oversee the Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions.

Similar security measures were carried out in Umerkot and Tharparkar. A total of three senior superintendents of police, along with numerous inspectors and constables, would be on duty to ensure a peaceful day.

The Governor of Balochistan talked about the importance for commemorating the birth of Prophet (PBUH), while calling for unity among Muslims. He urged the community to reflect on the teachings of the Prophet and to spread love and tolerance regardless of background.

In Lahore, the local government declared a public holiday to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Various seminars, conference and Naat gatherings will be organise to highlight the life and teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). The provincial capital is expected to witness numerous processions, with streets and buildings adorned with colourful lights and decorations.

As the day approaches, local authorities are finalising arrangements to ensure that the celebrations proceed smoothly and safety. The focus on security and community participation reflects the significance of the day in hearts of millions of Muslims across the country.
