Major cities shut down on JI’s strike call

ISLAMABAD: A shutter-down strike is being observed across the country on the call of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to protest Israeli aggression in Gaza and Indian actions in occupied Kashmir.
The strike is being observed in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and other cities on Jamaat-e-Islami’s call to protest Israeli aggression in Gaza and Indian actions in occupied Kashmir.
In Karachi, Korangi Crossing Road was closed, and traffic remained thin across the city. In Lahore, major commercial areas including Akbari Mandi, Badami Bagh, Auto Market, Abid Market, Shah Alam Market, Urdu Bazaar, Lohari Medicine Market, and Optical Market remained completely shut.
A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Murree’s hill areas. Major spots like Mall Road, Cantt Market, and nearby areas wore a deserted look.
In Rawalpindi, Raja Bazaar, Murree Road, and Saddar also remained closed due to the strike.
In Balochistan, cities like Quetta, Mastung, Khuzdar, Kalat, and Pishin also witnessed a complete shutdown.
Karachi partially shuts down on JI’s strike call
In Peshawar, markets in Saddar, Khyber Bazaar, Ashraf Road, Karim Pura, Ghanta Ghar, Chowk Yadgar, Kohati Gate, Peepal Mandi, Meena Bazaar, Kochi Bazaar, Jahangir Pura, Jangi Mohalla, and Namak Mandi also remained closed due to the strike.
Traders displayed banners expressing solidarity with the Pakistan Army against India and support for the Palestinian cause. Solidarity rallies were also held in various cities.
Doctors and the pharmaceutical community also joined in to express solidarity with Palestinians.
The Drugists and Chemists Association participated in the strike, leading to the closure of several medical stores.
