LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief organizer and vice-president, Maryam Nawaz said on Sunday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is returning back to Pakistan on October 21 fix Pakistan’s multitude of problems including skyrocketing inflation, unemployement and inflated electricity bills.
In a speech delivered at Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz expressed her enthusiasm and amusingly remarked, “I’m not sure if it’s October 8 or October 21 today” and pondered what would transpire on October 21 when the PML-N’s supremo Nawaz Sharif return to the country.
She went on to remind the nation of Nawaz Sharif’s leadership and the pivotal role he has played in Pakistan’s history. She recalled his dedication to the welfare of the people, citing examples of his governance during his tenure as prime minister.
“Nawaz Sharif was a leader who led with a vision. During his time, prices remained stable. The exchange rate was steady, and essential commodities were affordable. Under his leadership, load shedding became a thing of the past,” she emphasized.
Reflecting on the achievements during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, Maryam Nawaz pointed out significant infrastructure projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the end of power outages, and the initiation of various developmental projects across the country.
“Load shedding ended, and Pakistan’s economy witnessed remarkable growth. Roads were constructed, and a network of motorways expanded. These are the fruits of Nawaz Sharif’s leadership,” she proudly stated.

Maryam Nawaz also highlighted the reduction in corruption and improvement in governance during her father’s tenure. She reminded the party workers that it was under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership that Pakistan emerged as a nuclear-armed nation.
Addressing contemporary issues, she noted that Nawaz Sharif’s government had managed to maintain price stability, which stands in stark contrast to the current inflationary trends.
“Today, when electricity and fuel bills are skyrocketing, people are reminiscing about Nawaz Sharif’s era. We are facing the consequences of poor governance and economic instability,” she said.
The PML-N’s chief organiser extended an open invitation to all Pakistanis to join in welcoming Nawaz Sharif back to Pakistan on October 21 at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore. She expressed her belief that Nawaz Sharif’s return would bring positive change to the country’s political landscape and rekindle the spirit of progress and development that Pakistanis yearn for.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Nawaz Sharif’s leadership had always prioritized the betterment of the nation, and she reiterated her commitment to working alongside her father and the people of Pakistan to build a brighter future for the country.
She expressed the collective frustration and yearning of the Pakistani populace, lamenting the difficulties the nation has been grappling with in the absence of Nawaz Sharif. She underscored that Pakistan has become a crucible of hardships, touching the lives of every household.
“There is no segment of society untouched by these challenges,” Maryam Nawaz emphasized, as she sought to highlight the pervasive adversity that has gripped the nation.

She pointed out that Nawaz Sharif is often recalled when Pakistanis grapple with rising inflation and economic pressures.
“The absence of the seasoned leader, who has navigated the country through numerous crises in the past, leaves a void in the nation’s ability to address its multifaceted issues.”
Maryam Nawaz also noted that as Pakistan grapples with the burdens of the present, there is a growing sentiment among the people to see Nawaz Sharif’s return as a beacon of hope. The leader, known for his dedication to Pakistan’s progress and resilience in challenging times, continues to hold a significant place in the hearts of Pakistanis, she said.
Contrary to claims of foreign funding, Maryam Nawaz clarified that Nawaz Sharif did not rely on external sources to lead the country.
“His legacy and commitment to Pakistan are evident in the fact that his wife and mother rest in Pakistani soil.”
She stressed that it is the responsibility of the nation, as caretakers of this land, to overcome the challenges that have beset the country.
Maryam Nawaz rallied the nation by asserting that their future and Nawaz Sharif’s destiny are intertwined.
She implored the people to have faith in Nawaz Sharif’s ability to guide the nation out of its current predicaments, emphasizing that he remains a devoted son of the soil.
“As Pakistan yearns for respite from its hardships, Nawaz Sharif’s return represents a beacon of hope and a potential catalyst for change,” she said.
Aiming her guns at the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, she said that “the government was handed over to a man who stole a watch, by manipulating Nawaz Sharif’s votes.”
She said that the PTI government’s actions during their term had been far from responsible governance.
She said that upon assuming power, the PTI ministers appeared on television shows to engage in humour and satire, rather than dedicating their time to public service.
Maryam Nawaz said this approach undermined the nation’s trust and raised questions about the seriousness of a political government in addressing pressing issues.
“The past four years, under the “gang of thieves,” the government was characterized mere rhetoric and name-calling of opponents. They are now facing a challenging time themselves. Despite this, we refrain from engaging in personal attacks or mudslinging,” she said.
