ISLAMABAD: In a development stirring political speculation, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif engaged in talks with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), at the latter’s residence.
The meeting, held in Islamabad, saw the attendance of key figures from both parties, including Ahsan Iqbal, Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Maulana Ghafoor Haideri. Notably, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali and Noor Alam Khan also participated, emphasizing the gravity of the discussions.
Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that the agenda covered a broad spectrum of national political intricacies, with Nawaz Sharif extending an invitation to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, seeking his support in forming a government.
Insiders revealed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who has announced not to support any candidate for the prime minister’s slot, forthrightly conveyed his grievances to Nawaz Sharif. In response, the PML-N leader, recognizing the challenges inherent in governance, earnestly implored Maulana Fazlur Rehman for assistance in government formation.
The rendezvous between Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman not only marked a convergence of political ideologies but also hinted at the potential reshaping of Pakistan’s political landscape.
