MUZAFFARABAD: India has targeted the structure of the Noseri Dam, part of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to DG ISPR, the attack occurred at around 2 AM and caused damage to the key infrastructure.
DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry warned India of “serious consequences” for this water aggression, and said that India’s attempt to target “Pakistan’s critical water infrastructure” is a grave violation of “international and wartime conventions”.
“India’s misconception will be corrected,” he said, confirming structural damage to the dam.

Sources say the shelling damaged the intake gates at the de-sanders unit of the project. The hydraulic protection unit of the Noseri Dam was also reportedly hit. An ambulance present at the site was partially damaged during the attack.
So far, no official statement has been issued by India regarding this specific strike.
The Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project is a major national initiative of critical importance. It is situated near Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The project involves diverting water from the Neelum River through tunnels at Nauseri, roughly 41 km upstream of Muzaffarabad, and discharging it into the Jhelum River at Zaminabad near Chattar Kalas. The powerhouse is located at Chattar Kalas, around 22 km downstream from Muzaffarabad.
