New bride pulls a heist on groom in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A groom in Rawalpindi was left penniless after his bride fled on the very first day of their marriage, absconding with cash, gold, and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The incident occurred just hours after the wedding ceremony.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed with the police, on the first day of the wedding, the bride tearfully told the groom that her father had a heart attack and she has to go back to her parents’ house.

Soon after that she disappeared with Rs 250,000 in cash, three tolas of gold ornaments, and dresses valued at Rs 120,000. Additionally, the groom’s family reported the loss of Rs 20,000 worth of shoes and Rs 50,000 worth of make-up items that were meant for the bride.

The groom, devastated by the betrayal, immediately approached the local police to lodge a complaint. Law enforcement authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to locate the runaway bride and recover the stolen valuables.
