New DG ISI takes charge today

RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik will assume charge as the new Director General (DG) of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) today (Monday).

Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, 59, is recognised as one of the Pakistan Army’s most capable officers, particularly in operational command.

Before this appointment, he served as the Adjutant General at the army’s general headquarters, overseeing military administrative affairs, including legal and disciplinary matters, for the past three years.

He has expertise in operational intelligence and various military matters.

He has received the prestigious Sword of Honor in his course and has also served as the Chief Instructor at the National Defense University and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.

Lt. General Asim Malik, the new DG ISI, graduated from Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defence Studies. He has also served in the Military Operations Directorate. 

His academic achievements include serving as Chief Instructor at the National Defence University (NDU) and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.
