ISLAMABAD: A new spell of rain is expected to begin in Pakistan from Saturday, affecting most parts of the country including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.
Rain-windstorm/thunderstorm is likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, upper Sindh, Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during the next twelve hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
A series of westerly winds continue to affect the country’s upper region and the same system will be entering the southern and eastern regions of the country today, bringing with it a new round of rainfall, according to the Met Office.
Heavy rainfall/hailstorm is also likely at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeastern/southern Balochistan and Punjab.
While, snowfall is also expected on mountains in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during forecast period.
RAIN IN PUNJAB, ISLAMABAD
Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock and Chakwal are expected to receive a new round of rains from Saturday, according to PMD.
The rains will also affect Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gaps.
RAIN IN KARACHI
PMD has predicted that Karachi will recieve heavy to moderate rainfall on the coming weekend — April 13 and 14.
According to the Met department, different areas of Sindh including Sukkur and Larkana are also expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.
KP WEATHER
Rains will continue in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa till April 15, according to PMD.
There is a chance of rain in Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Hazara, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, DI Khan.
There is a risk of flooding in rivers and canals due to rains in the upper areas and, landslides, PMD
HEAVY RAINS IN BALOCHISTAN
The Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rains across various regions of Balochistan.
According to PMD spokesperson, apart from Quetta, areas including Pishin, Muslim Bagh, and Ziarat are expected to witness showers, while heavy rainfall is anticipated in Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Kohlu, Sibi, and Jhal Magsi.
Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy showers are predicted in Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, and Kalat. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
Moreover, rainfall is expected in Turbat, Harnai, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Chagi, Panjgur, Gwadar, and Kech.
TEMPERATURE OF MAJOR CITIES RECORDED THIS MORNING
Islamabad twenty degree centigrade, Lahore twenty-two, Karachi twenty-seven, Peshawar eighteen, Quetta twelve, Gilgit fourteen, Murree ten and Muzaffarabad sixteen degree centigrade.
According to the met office the country may receive more rain in April than usual.
