Rainfall expected in Punjab, Islamabad from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Punjab and Islamabad from tomorrow (February 19) to 21, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The spell will bring an end to the prolonged dry weather, while snowfall is also forecasted in the upper regions.
A frontal weather system is likely to enter northern Pakistan on February 19 and persist until February 21.
The PMD predicts rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, and Shigar. Similar weather conditions are expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur on February 19 and 20.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunderstorms will affect Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat on February 19 and 20.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain and windstorms are expected from February 19 to 21, with snowfall in Murree and Galliyat. Areas including Islamabad, Potohar, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh are likely to receive rain on February 19 and 20.
Light rain is also expected in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar on February 19.
In Balochistan, rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, and Musakhel on February 18 and 19. Most parts of Sindh will remain dry, but gusty winds may hit coastal areas.
The Met Office has warned of possible road closures and slippery conditions due to heavy snowfall in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, and Neelum Valley from February 19 to 21. Hailstorms may also occur in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Kashmir on the night of February 19 and early February 20.
