Newly appointed CJP calls Judicial Council meeting on November 8

ISLAMABAD: The newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has called a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council on November 8.

The Chief Justice has also called a meeting of the judges of the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) on November 7. The agenda of this meeting includes discussions on the progress of cases under ATCs.

Earlier, CJP Afridi issued orders to provide live streaming service to all Supreme Court courtrooms. As of now, this facility is only available in courtroom number one of the apex court.

Supreme Court sources said that the Chief Justice has assigned the task to Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, adding that the service of live streaming will be subject to the petitioners’ consent.

Justice Yahya Afridi took oath as the 30th Chief Justice of Pakistan on Saturday. He has been appointed for three years under the amended constitution.
