Nine killed, 18 injured as bus falls into ravine in Mirpur

MIRPUR: At least nine people were killed and 18 injured after a coaster fell into a ravine in the Nar area of Mirpur district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

The ill-fated bus was carrying more than 35 pilgrims who were returning to Gujranwala after attending an urs in Nerian Sharif, according to rescue sources.

Rescue and medical sources confirmed that eight of those who lost their lives died on the spot and one succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The wounded have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital Mirpur.
