No more govt jobs for families of deceased employees

LAHORE: The caretaker government of Punjab has announced a significant increase in the financial assistance provided to the families of government employees who die while in service.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance Punjab, the families of the deceased employees will no longer be entitled to government jobs, but will receive higher amounts of monetary compensation.

The notification states that the families of employees of scale 1 to 4 will receive Rs5 million (Rs50 lakh) instead of Rs1.6 million (Rs16 lakh), the families of employees of scale 5 to 10 will receive Rs7.5 million instead of Rs1.9 million, and the families of employees of scale 11 to 15 will receive Rs10 million instead of Rs2.2 million.

Moreover, the families of employees of scale 16 and 17 will receive Rs15 million instead of Rs2.5 million, while the families of employees of scale 18 and 19 will receive Rs20 million instead of Rs3.4 million.

The notification of the provincial finance ministry says that the decision has been taken to provide better financial security and relief to the bereaved families of the government servants.
