RAWALPINDI: Accountability court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Bushra Bibi, spouse of former prime minister Imran Khan in the 190 million pounds case.
The warrants have been issued due to her continuous absence from hearing of the trial, which is being held at Adiala jail.
Another plea for exemption was filed by the defense lawyer today on medical grounds, to which National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) lawyer objected and said that the medical certificate was issued by Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, but the notarization was done in Islamabad.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana refusing the exemption plea issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Bushra Bibi.
The court directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to arrest Bushra Bibi and present her on November 26. A show-cause notice was also issued to her guarantor.
Meanwhile, the PTI chief Imran Khan was presented before the court, but the accused failed to submit a statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
It is noteworthy that Bushra Bibi has been absent from eight consecutive hearings of the £190 million reference case.
It has been alleged that Imran Khan and others including Bushra Bibi adjusted Rs 50 billion, equivalent to £190 million at the time, that was transferred by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government.
This sum was part of a settlement with property tycoon, Malik Riaz.
