Noor Mukadam case: SC schedules Zahir Jaffer’s appeal for hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has scheduled the hearing of Zahir Jaffer’s appeal against death sentence in Noor Mukadam murder case. It is notable here that Jaffer was sentenced in February 2022 by the sessions court.

Since then he had moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the sentence, where the former IHC chief justice Aamir Farooq has upheld Zahir Jaffer’s death sentence. The convict then moved the apex court against the sentence, which the Supreme Court is yet to hear.

Now the SC has scheduled the hearing of Zahir Jaffer’s appeal for May 13 (Tuesday).

A three-member bench headed by Justice Hashim Kakar will hear the case.

Noor Mukadam’s father, Shaukat Mukadam’s appeal against Zahir Jaffer’s father’s acquittal is also scheduled for hearing. The appeals of co-accused in the case will also be heard.
