ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani player from Muslim Hands football team, participating in the Norway Cup, has allegedly gone missing in Oslo, sources told local media.
According to the initial reports, Amanullah Rauf Baloch has been untraceable since the first day of the tournament.
Sources claim that the footballer, who hails from the Lyari area of Karachi, did not appear in a single match during the event.
Muslim Hands’ team has now returned to Pakistan without him. It has also emerged that Amanullah previously played for Better Future Pakistan in an earlier edition of the Norway Cup.
Muslim Hands football team spokesperson issues clarification
Rehan Tahir, spokesperson for the Muslim Hands Street Football Team, said the organisation has been active in sports for 11 years and has never faced such an incident before.
He confirmed that the missing player’s passport has been submitted to the Pakistani Embassy in Norway.
According to him, Norwegian police are actively searching for the player.
The spokesperson added that Pakistani authorities have also been informed of all the details.
“We don’t want the future of other players to suffer because of this one incident,” Rehan Tahir stressed.
It merits mentioning that during the 2025 World University Game two Pakistani athletes, Shazil Ahmed and Nadeem Ali, had reportedly gone missing in Germany.
Both athletes were part of Pakistan’s official squad and have been untraceable since July 24.
They had informed fellow team members before stepping out, but their whereabouts remain unknown.
No unusual behaviour had been noticed prior to their disappearance.
