Not involved in any conspiracy against PTI chief, says US State Dept

WASHINGTON: The United States (US) refuted the claims of its involvement in any conspiracy against the former Prime Minister and PTI chief’s arrest.

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, during his press briefing, dismissed the allegations leveled against the US with regards to Pakistan, asserting their falsity both now and in the future.

Earlier, the former Pakistani ambassador also said that the accusations against the US were ‘baseless’.

As per the press briefing, Miller refrained from commenting on the authenticity or implications of the recently surfaced Pakistani documents.

Matthew Miller told media that the documents did not provide conclusive evidence that US influenced the ‘selection’ of a Pakistani leader. He also declined to talk about the ‘confidential discussions’ with Pakistani diplomats.

“The former Prime Minister of Pakistan’s visit to Ukraine coincided with Russia’s attack on a significant day. The US already expressed its concerns regarding the timing of his visit,” Miller added.
