‘Nothing do with vandalism’ at Jinnah House, Aleema and Uzma Khan tell JIT


ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan on Friday appeared before a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the vandalism at Jinnah House on May 9 to record their statements.

According to sources, Aleema and Uzma Khan in their statements said that they had nothing to do with the acts of vandalism and damage caused to the Jinnah House and other state properties.

The sources said that Uzma Khan told the JIT that she participated in the demonstration in front of Jinnah House but she was not involved in vandalism.

According to the sources, Aleema Khan told the JIT that at the time of the riots, she was present at Zaman Park, where the PTI chairman’s residence is situated.

The May 9 violence was followed by large-scale arrests by law enforcement agencies, with few details making it to the public domain.

Hum News has obtained a list of suspects currently in military custody for involvement in the May 9 violence, submitted before the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC).

A total of 102 persons have been earmarked for military trial for attacking military institutions, monuments and facilities across the country on May 9, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan informed a six-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, during a hearing regarding trials of civilians in military courts.
